AWS Data Analytics Certification

The 12 AWS credentials currently in use need updating. To quickly review the previous blog, here you go. An updated certification and a brand-new certification are both on the horizon.

  1. The SAA-C02 certification is the latest iteration of the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate. In order to get a better understanding of the shifts, please visit our blog. Upon us on March 23, 2020.
  2. DAS-C01 is the newest version of the AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty certification, which was formerly known as AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty. On tap for 13 April, 2020.
  3. The AWS Certified Database – Specialty exam is fresh to the market. On tap for the 6th of April, 2020.

There is a new SAA-C02 version of the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification. To see how the shifts stack up, read our blog post. On the horizon, as of March 23, 2020.

The AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty exam has been updated to DAS-C01 from the previous exam, AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty. Expected on April 13th, 2020.

There’s a brand-new certification test out there, and it’s for the AWS database department. Due out on April 6th, 2020.

Recommended AWS Knowledge and Exam Content Updates

  1. The exam is still graded on a scale of success or failure.
  2. The use of multiple-choice and -response questions remains.
  3. All questions with no responses are counted as wrong, but guessing does not affect your score.
  4. A portion of the questions are non-scored; they will not be factored into your final grade but will be used for research purposes.
  5. Exam results are reported on a scale from 100 to 1,000, with a passing score of 750; passing any one section is not necessary, but passing the exam as a whole is. (NEW)
  6. In addition to the previously required 2 years of hands-on experience, AWS now also recommends a minimum of 5 years of experience with mainstream data analytics technologies before attempting this certification. (NEW)

There is still a single correct answer on the exam.

Answers to questions that were not provided are counted as wrong, but guessing does not affect your score.

It is important to note that some questions are not scored and are only included for statistical purposes.

Exam results are reported on a scale from 100 to 1,000, with a passing score of 750. Sectional passing is not required; only overall exam success will be reported. (NEW)

In addition to the previously required two years of hands-on experience, AWS now recommends a minimum of five years of experience with mainstream data analytics technologies before applying for this certification. (NEW)

That the combined score for Analysis and Visualization has dropped from 29% to 18% is shocking. I’m confused by AWS’s decision to shorten this section in an era when visuals make even the most complex concepts easier to grasp.

Here are some pointers for the new exam, based on the experiences of those who took the beta version:

Primitive 1: The Archives – Kinesis and Managed Streaming have been identified as two notable Less emphasis on the Internet of Things means that familiarity with Kafka is now more crucial than ever. It’s unclear how much of that would appear on a real test.

S3, the Glue Data Catalog, and Redshift scenario questions are typical of Domain 2: Storage and Data Management. There aren’t a lot of people asking about DynamoDB, so your inquiry will not be ignored.

Subdomain 3: Processing – You should be familiar with AWS Glue, S3, Redshift processing, and EMR, as you may be asked scenario-based questions on these topics. You can anticipate questions on automation, as that is a new assessment focal point introduced by this domain.

It goes without saying that you should be familiar with Amazon QuickSight if you’re interested in Domain 4 (Analysis and Visualization). One section of the new test, but essentially a streamlined version of the old test’s material.

Domain 5: Security, with an emphasis on encryption using S3, EBS (both client-side and server-side). Integration with Active Directory may be the subject of a quiz.

Given the rapid pace of innovation, only time will tell which training providers offer the most relevant and up-to-date curriculum. You’ll find some useful resources for your study below.

Meanwhile, AWS preparation paths shouldn’t shift too much, and there’s still a lot of common ground between the AWS BigData Certification and the AWS Data Analytic Certification. Keep in mind that is your one-stop shop for all the AWS BigData preparation paths you need to not only pass AWS certifications but also excel on the associated exams.
